ONE distinguished visitor to Wellington recently was Professor Mohamad Abdalla (centre in the photo). He led Friday prayers in Kilbirnie Mosque and delivered an eloquent khutbah on the topic of why we should have a yearning to meet Allah. He also gave a talk after Maghrib on the topic of Purification of The Heart.
The professor, who had PhD in Islamic Studies and regularly accompanies groups of pilgrims on their hajj, is Director of the Centre for Islamic Thought and Education at the University of South Australia in Adelaide.
He was visiting Victoria University of Wellington to explore ways in which the two tertiary establishments could collaborate.
